Meatball Marvel

Bacon bourbon meatballs, anyone? Yes, they are as delicious as they sound…

Meatball Ingredients

  • 500 grams of ground beef
  • 3-4 rashers of bacon, cook and chopped
  • Half a medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • Half a cup of parsley, chopped
  • Half a cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Half a teaspoon of pepper
  • Half a teaspoon of chilli powder

Bourbon Barbecue Sauce Ingredients

  • One third of a cup of ketchup
  • One quarter of a cup of bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • Half a teaspoon of garlic powder
  • One quarter of a teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • One third of a cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard

  1. In a large pan, cook the bacon over a medium heat until crispy. Chop the bacon finely and add to a large bowl with the minced beef.
  2. Add the onion, parsley, egg, breadcrumbs and seasonings to the meatball mixture and use your hands to combine well.
  3. Form into balls and set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar and seasonings. Cook over a medium-high heat until boiling.
  4. Reduce to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes. Once finished, remove from the heat.
  5. In a skillet, heat two tablespoons of olive oil and cook the meatballs for five to 10 minutes, rotating them occasionally, or until brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the heat and toss the meatballs in the sauce.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Line the baking tray with baking paper and spray with cooking spray.
  8. Mix all ingredients until well blended, shaping them into balls.
  9. Bake for about 16-18 minutes. Enjoy!
