These American beef and cheese subs are perfection in a bun…

Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef strips
  • 6 hot dog rolls
  • Steak seasoning
  • Handful of mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 red capsicum cut into strips
  • 1 brown onion cut into half rings
  • Shredded tasty cheese
  • Mayonnaise
  • Burger sauce
  • Oil

Method

  1. Season beef strips with steak seasoning. Add beef strips and a generous drizzle of oil to a frying pan, and cook on a medium heat until the beef is cooked through. This should take about eight minutes.
  2. In a separate pan, add a drizzle of oil, the sliced mushrooms, capsicum and brown onion. Sauté for about 10 minutes or until they are soft.
  3. Combine the beef strips with the vegetables and, on a low heat, cook together for about another five minutes. Add a bit more steak seasoning to the pan.
  4. Slice the hotdog buns in half, open them up and lay them on a baking tray. Add a heaped amount of the beef and veggie mix to each hotdog bun. Cover with shredded cheese and place in the oven, under the grill.
  5. Grill the hotdogs for about five minutes, or until the cheese has melted and become golden brown. Add a drizzle of mayonnaise and the burger sauce to each bun.
  6. Serve… and enjoy!
