Regent RV is conducting a voluntary product safety recall of its RV-One HDJYF1001-1 Two-Stage LPG Gas Pressure Regulators installed on certain Snowy River and NewGen caravans sold in Australia and New Zealand.
The recall was issued after it was discovered that a manufacturing defect in the gas regulator’s internal diaphragm could lead to a gas leak, posing a risk of fire, explosion or asphyxiation.
Regent RV says that no injuries or deaths have been reported to date, but that immediate action was required from affected customers.
Customers of affected vans are being asked to turn off their gas cylinder(s) and the gas supply valve on the regulator, and arrange a replacement through one of the company’s dealerships as soon as possible. Replacement work will be carried out by a licensed gas fitter, free of charge.
Regent RV says anyone anyone on the road at the moment can continue to tow their caravan but the gas cylinders and the gas supply valve on the regulator must be turned off.
A hotline has been established to field enquiries from concerned customers. Phone 1800 485 031 for more information or visit the online customer portal.
The affected gas regulators were built between May 31 and January 26. Regent RV is asking customers to visit the special online portal and search for their chassis number – if affected, follow the instructions.
