The Caravan Industry Association of Victoria has pledged $5000 to dog welfare charity ‘Man’s Best Friend’ at the upcoming Border Caravan & Camping Expo.

The show, which will be held from August 25-27 at the Wodonga Racecourse, Vic, will also, for the first time, welcome man’s best friend, dogs.

“The association is very much aware that unfortunately not all pooches are pampered and that is why we are excited to be able to donate $5000 to the Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue,” CIA Vic CEO Rob Lucas said.

“We thought that it aligned quite nicely with our new direction in supporting travelling with your best friend – the family dog – and would hopefully assist with some local dogs being treated and adopted into loving homes.”

Ella Bloomfield, president of Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue, said the $5000 donation would save the lives of local animals ‘that we would normally not be able to save’.

“We get dogs in that have bad dental health, have hip problems and that have been badly neglected. This money will go to save those that saving is not normally possible,” she said.

‘We appreciate this generous donation from the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria and the move to encourage responsible pet practices by allowing dogs on leashes at the expo along with designated water stations for the dogs.”

Mr Lucas said the Wodonga Racecourse was the ‘perfect venue to commence our man’s best friend welcome policy for our shows’.
