Australia’s national caravan and camping body, the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of Australia, needs to do more to advance adherence to RV compliance standards, according to Jayco founder Gerry Ryan.
Mr Ryan sat with GoRV’s Max Taylor for a wide-ranging interview on GoRV’s podcast, Tow & Tell, to discuss the state of the industry, his career and the impact the surging import market is having on local production.
“I believe in manufacturing and it will continue to be a priority (in Australia,” Mr Ryan said. “I work with my fellow competitors because I want them to survive.”
In this MUST-WACH episode, Mr Ryan also had sharp words for some imported product, while acknowledging that much of this product was actually now built to a very high standard, putting pressure on local manufacturers to the point that many can no longer compete.
