The Mitchell hybrid camper will remain in production under Pioneer's new owner.

Trakmaster Caravans’ parent company, Gason, has bought Pioneer Campers.

“We see this as a great ft between our Ararat (Vic) manufacturing division and our Trakmaster Caravans plant at Bayswater (Vic),” Gason managing director Wayne Gason said.

“Our plan is to manufacture all the steel fabrication parts for Pioneer campers at Gason’s Blake Street, Ararat, plant and to carry out the final assembly work at our Bayswater plant, creating a second assembly line specifically for Pioneer Campers.

“This will create more long term jobs in Ararat and also give a number of our valued staff the opportunity to take on greater responsibilities in the company.”

According to Mr Gason, when Pioneer Campers was put on the market in April/May, Gason saw an opportunity to grow its Offroad Adventure division.

He said that no changes were planned to the Pioneer stable of offroad campers in the short term, and that warranties of new campers purchased under Pioneer’s previous owner would remain covered.
