Jurgens: The Inside Story

Jurgens Australia has experienced remarkable growth in the nine years since it was established.

Jurgens Australia has been manufacturing caravans for about nine years. It is one of the quiet achievers of the Australian RV industry, having grown from building a handful of caravans in its first year in business to 600 or so a year today.

To put that in perspective, Jurgens builds 13 to 15 caravans a week, depending on the models that are rolling on the production line in Pakenham, Vic. It’s a purpose-built factory, which Jurgens built a few years ago after outgrowing the Tooradin, Vic, premises.

Curious, we visited the factory and sat down with Jurgens Australia managing director Terry Fox. We wanted to know how a Jurgens is built, how much of it is built in Australia, and how much is built in South Africa.

We left with one overriding impression: if past growth is any guide, Jurgens Australia is here for the long haul.
